Hosted by Belzuz Abogados (Insuralex´s Exclusive Member in Spain and Portugal), the 2025 event will take place on June 5th at the NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding Hotel.

DANA in Valencia, Spain: Heartbreaking Figures That Tell a Sad Story
On October 29, 2024 the DANA (Spanish acronym for Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos, meaning “isolated depression at high levels”) devastated Valencia.
The more than two hundred people who perished in the floods are unquestionably the most heartbreaking aspect of this disaster, a horrific, inconceivable figure that would have seemed unthinkable months ago.
The catastrophe’s greatest manifestation is the loss of human life, but there are also significant social and economic consequences, such as homes, businesses, industries, automobiles, crops (more than 150,000) and public infrastructure (roads, railways, schools, health centers and hydraulic and electrical systems). The destruction has immobilized the daily lives of hundreds of thousands of people and crippled the Valencian economy as a whole.
The considerable extent of the damage is due to the substantial number of towns affected and the destruction of assets amassed over many years of investment. Ten percent of Valencia’s businesses are located in thirteen of the most severely affected towns, most of them in the county of l’Horta Sud. The business fabric in these towns is primarily made up of micro and small-sized businesses that play a significant role in employment and provincial GDP. For these businesses and others affected in the remaining seventy damaged municipalities to resume operations, direct public aid is needed to help them replace damaged assets as quickly as possible.
