Right to be forgotten for cancer survivors

by Insuralex / Thursday, 15 December 2022 / Published in Belzuz Abogados Spain, Belzuz Portugal, Carter Perry Bailey LLP, Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, Law Firm Paul Muylaert, News + Articles, Olczak-Klimek van der Kroft Węgiełek, Popovici Nițu Stoica & Asociații, Reports, SCP Soulié & Coste-Floret, Studio Legale Giorgetti, Tramposch & Partner

In February 2022, the European Parliament called on EU Member States to introduce a “right to be forgotten” for cancer survivors, in their Member State legislation by the end of 2025, when applying for insurance, as well as mortgages and loans. France was the first country to introduce legislation in 2016, and relaxed their laws further earlier in 2022.

In our Regional meeting in Madrid, on 3 November 2022, four Insuralex member firms gave their perspectives at that time.

This directory provides a summary of steps taken, as at the end of November 2022, in all the jurisdictions of the European region Insuralex members (including the UK) and includes available links to existing and draft legislation to help you monitor developments up to the end of 2025 deadline.
